Our first "Restaurant Fundraiser" of 2012 will be held at both SWEET TOMATOES locations (San Mateo AND Coors) on May 9 (Wednesday) from 5 - 8pm. They will donate 15% toward the "Hardship Relief Project" for local children.

HTCSW shared a terrific experience with Hospital La Divina Providencia in Santiago Texacuangos by providing surgery for 48 children. This very special team included surgeons Dr. Ron Escudero (ENT) and Dr. Bill Loutfy (Plastics), anesthesiologists Dr. Polly Primm, Dr. Mike Vollers, and Dr. Elizabeth Ryan, family practice Dr. Ricardo Ortega, nurses Sharon Prudhomme, Serena Primm, Joanne Heil, Susan Ketigian, Richard Schneider. Assisting were David Theis, Dierdre McEntee, Laura Ketigian; Bobbye Krehbiel served as team administrator. Our thanks also go to Dr. David Carcamo (Hospital director), Yasmin Olana, Dina Rameriz, local surgeons Dr. Jose Bonilla and Dr. Quintanilla. We also appreciate the assistance of Herb Pierson and Dr. Jose Luis Guevara (Clinica Rotaria Chaparrastique -- clinica without walls) who helped locate patients. So many thanks are due to the terrific volunteers who came after work on December 7 to help assemble the December newsletter...the only mailing we have each year. We were able to assemble all 1000 pieces in 1.5 hours, which is a record. Ada Rameriz came with Carol Eiffert (sadly she will return to Guatemala after Christmas...her eye infection is cleared), Donna and Walt Brown, Mary Jarrett, our newly elected treasurer Bill Ninopolous, Phil and Bobbye Krehbiel, Sevie Taylor, Joanna Garcia and her boyfriend Chris. Many thanks to Rifka Stern for offering her home and excellent music from the CD BABAMUDIK performed by her group Kubatana Marimba SW that raises money for Zimbabwe Orphans. One of our terrific scrub techs from the 2009 trip to Santiago Texacuangos, El Salvador, Coral Trujillo, just completed her nursing degree from Central New Mexico comminity College. Congratulations Coral! We look forward to your next mission with HTCSW.
